Body Stress is a powerful factor in all our lives and can undermine our health and well-being in many ways.  Every day we are exposed to different types of stress;

  • Physical – such as an injury, strain or bad posture.
  • Chemical -  such as air pollutant, additives and colourants in food, harmful chemicals in everyday products.
  • Mental or emotional stress.

Sometimes we find ourselves overloaded by stress. In an effort to cope with this overload, the body stores the stress in the muscles. This is what we call ‘body stress’. Body stress can lead to pain, stiffness, postural distortion, numbness, and cramps. Tension in the muscles can put pressure on your nerves which disturbs your body’s communication system. This reduces the efficiency of your body’s natural self-healing ability.

Whilst fully clothed and lying down, the BSR practitioner will do a series of pressure tests, and the muscular responses indicate the exact sites of stored stress.

The BSR practitioner then applies a light but definite pressure in the precise directions indicated.

This allows the body to restore muscle tone and return to its in-built ability to heal and maintain itself.

Body Stress Release is for everyone- from infants to the elderly. It is also safe during pregnancy. Clients have reported relief from Back pain, sciatica, headaches, migraines, neuralgia, indigestion and restricted movement.

Other conditions that have improved with Body Stress Release include:

I had been suffering with a sore left knee for a number of months which finally led to to attend A&E as my knee had swollen and I could barely walk.

I visited Mary-Clare the next day the the relief was almost immediate, although the pain did surface after a few hours. Following my second appointment 4 days later the pain relief was again immediate however this time was far longer lasting and in fact has not come back any where near as painful.

I have scheduled a number of BSR appointments with Mary-Clare over the course of the next few weeks as I have found the sessions to be both a very effective recuperation therapy for my knee and a great overall body "maintenance" tool.

I had several sessions of Body Stress Release when I was suffering from stress. The stress was triggering a back injury and causing insomnia. Mary-Clare took a detailed history so the treatments were tailored to my needs. The Body Stress Release sessions were very relaxing and somehow seemed to balance both my mind and body. I found each visit as effective and it also helped with my general mood and with sleep, which had been very disturbed. Unfortunately, I have moved out of the area or I would still be going. Highly recommended.
